News from Comedian Mike Goodwin

I can remember the first story I read that exposed me to the magic of reading. It was George Orwell's Animal Farm. I was a peanut-headed, little 7th grader in Mrs. Pullum's class (great teacher, by the way). This book captivated me unlike anything I read previously, and it was different from the captivation I experienced with my Archie comics (even though Veronica did a pretty good job captivating a young Michael Goodwin). I digress...
I believe my love of reading was obtained honestly. My mother is an avid reader. As a child, I would often hear my aunts and uncles say that during my mother's childhood, "You could often find Beck somewhere with her head in a book." So I must thank both my mother and Mrs. Penny Pullum for assisting me in getting my read on! In a brief moment of disclosure, I must admit that I'm an excellent book starter, but I have struggled with being a poor book finisher. So this serves as my noble attempt to hold myself accountable to you, my new internet friend. So I will continue to read and update you on my literary journey. Please remember that reading is FUNdamental.
